Serviceperson I (Water/Sewer)
Wages/Hours: $20.38-$23.85 (2017 hourly pay range)
40 Hrs/Wk. (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. / ½ hr. lunch)

Performs entry-level work under direct supervision. Assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the Town of Steilacoom’s water and sewer utilities.
1. High School diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License.
3. Verification of good driving record (do not include abstract with application).
4. Possess the physical strength/agility to perform the work of the position.
5. Must be able to understand/execute written and oral instruction.
Desired Qualifications (It is desired that the applicant be in possession of the following or have the ability to obtain the following within 6 months of date of hire.)
1. Washington Industrial First Aid Certificate
2. Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certification
3. Washington State Flagging Card
4. Washington State Class “B” Combination Driver’s License with tanker endorsement.
Physical Requirements: The position requires the incumbent be able to drive town vehicles, operate equipment associated with the position, and perform strenuous physical labor in a safe manner. The incumbent must be able to lift/move up to 60 lbs. There is frequent walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing ladders. The incumbent must be able to work safely in confined spaces. In this position, there is exposure to inclement weather, loud noises, extreme
heat/cold and hazardous materials.
Terms of Employment:
This is a full-time position offering associated benefits. The incumbent may respond to after hours emergencies. This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement with Teamster Union Local 117.

Recreation Aide (2 Positions)
September – Mid-June
(Additional hours may be available with the summer camp program Mid-June through August)
Position 2: Wednesdays 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Substitute
The incumbent will provide coverage for shifts in the absence of regularly scheduled staff. Shifts generally covered are in the AM/PM program located at Cherrydale Primary School. The AM program runs from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM. The PM program runs from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. In addition, hours may be available on school district half days, holidays/holiday breaks.
Position 3: After School Program (Mon-Fri 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

Wage: $12.57 Hr. (2017)

Position Description: Supervise, monitor, evaluate, and assess youth program participants. Direct and participate in program activities to include: arts and crafts, sports, games, drama, and music.
1. High school graduation/GED equivalent.
2. One year experience working with elementary age children in a structured program.
3. CPR and Basic First Aid Certification (able to obtain within an agreed/specified period).
4. Washington State Driver’s License / Good driving record.
5. Washington State Food Workers’ Card (able to obtain within an agreed/specified period).
6. Availability to work the hours of the position.
Prefer: Experience working with children in a preschool, before/after school program or summer camp program.
Physical Requirements: Driving, walking, running, standing, sitting, squatting, kneeling, ability to lift/move up to 30 pounds, set up tables/chairs, and interact with children in physical exercise, sports, and games. The incumbent must be able to traverse uneven terrain as activities may be conducted in an outdoor environment.

Public Safety Officer (Lateral)
The picturesque Town of Steilacoom is establishing an eligibility list for lateral officers. Public Safety Officers are cross-trained and have an opportunity to serve the community in the areas of law enforcement and EMS. Not trained in both disciplines? Don’t worry! The 2016 monthly salary range for this position averages $5,743. – $6,718. Specialty pay opportunities are available.
