Meter Reader (Part-time)
Wages/Hours: $19.53 - $22.84 per hour

This position is responsible for gathering/recording data using a hand-held microcomputer. Data collected in this position is vital to the operation/coordination of utility/billing services.
1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Possess a valid Washington State Drivers License / good driving record.
3. Pass a background check.
Preferred: Prior meter reading experience
Familiarity with hand-held meter reading devices.
This position requires the incumbent be able to traverse uneven terrain, as the worksite is the outdoor environment. Work is primarily around homes, offices, and other structures. Considerable walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling are required to read meters. The position requires year-round work in a variety of weather conditions. The incumbent may encounter dogs on private property.
Terms of Employment:
The use of a personal vehicle is required. The incumbent must maintain current insurance coverage. Mileage reimbursement is available. The position requires availability to work flexible hours and is not benefit eligible.

Facility Attendant (Part-time)
Wages/Hours: $12.27 - $14.36 per hour (2018)
(Scheduled to work one week a month staffing the front desk at the Steilacoom Community Center Monday – Thursday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. and
Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. In addition, occasionally scheduled to oversee rental events booked at Town venues.)
Closing Date: October 15, 2018 – 3:00 p.m.
This position maintains occupant and facility supervision during rentals, special uses, and events. The incumbent will also staff the reception desk at the Steilacoom Community Center providing information, processing payments, and overseeing facility activities.
1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Over 21 years of age.
3. One year experience working with the public.
4. Available to work evenings approximately one week a month and occasional weekend days/evenings.
Prefer: Experience with the Clover POS system software booking/receipting
Terms of Employment:
Use of personal transportation is required. If the incumbent is using a vehicle, current insurance coverage must be maintained. The position requires availability to work flexible hours and is not eligible to receive benefits.
Physical Requirements: The incumbent must travel to various worksites and navigate the facilities. The position requires the ability to give/receive oral/written instruction and explain policies/procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be required to lift/move items weighing up to 30 pounds.
1. Both outdoor and indoor venues.

Public Safety Officer (Lateral)
The picturesque Town of Steilacoom is establishing an eligibility list for lateral officers. Public Safety Officers are cross-trained and have an opportunity to serve the community in the areas of law enforcement and EMS. Not trained in both disciplines? Don’t worry! Farmers’ Market Volunteers
Hours: June 20, 2018 –August 29, 2018:
Wednesdays 1:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. assist with market.

Reports To: Farmers’ Market Coordinator
The Town of Steilacoom is interested in volunteers seeking to provide valuable community service. The positions provide an opportunity to serve and interact with Steilacoom Farmers’ Market shoppers/producers/vendors.
Position Description: The incumbent will gain valuable hands-on market experience while assisting the Farmers’ Market Coordinator in all phases of market operations.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Possess strong communication skills.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Incumbent must maintain a valid drivers’ license and insurance when using a personal/Town vehicle on Town business.
• Must pass a background check.
• Individuals assigned to process financial transactions must pass a credit check.
Physical Demands: The positions require incumbents to frequently preform strenuous physical labor in a safe manner. The incumbents primarily work in an outdoor environment with frequent exposure to varying weather conditions. The incumbents are required to traverse uneven terrain in the performance of duties associated with the positions. On a frequent basis, the incumbents will be required to lift/move/transport items weighing up to 50 pounds.
